YOUTH SERVICES PROGRAMMING SPECIALIST -- Library Administration -- Leesburg, VA Hiring Range: $43,194 - $58,312 /yr. Req # 08-S355-145 Summary of Duties: The Loudoun County Public Library is looking for an energetic, innovative Youth Services Programming Specialist. This is a new position designed to help take our already exciting program to the next level. The Youth Services Programming Specialist is responsible for assisting in the management of large system-wide programs for children and teens. The Loudoun County Public Library is currently in the construction phase of two 4,000 sq. ft. self-enclosed teen zones. The system won the John Cotton Dana Award for its teen services, "Hanging Out Rocks!" and was selected to be included in the 2009 publication Excellence in Library Services to Young Adults. The Youth Services Programming Specialist will assist in developing and coordinating the Children and Teen Summer Reading Program, Early Literacy Programming, Young Adult Author Series, Teen Read/Teen Tech Month, Teen Zone programming and other monthly and annual programs. In conjunction with the Division Manager works with the Loudoun County Public Schools, County Departments and community groups to manage and implement programs and services for children and teens. These responsibilities may include: grants facilitation, training, collecting programming data, supporting the evaluation of children and teen library programs and communicating with children and teen staff in the branches and includes participating and initiating new programs for the system. Qualifications: Masters of Library or Information Science from an accredited ALA college or university. At least three years of experience in public library work with two years of supervisory experience in providing children and teen library programming and services. Demonstrated knowledge of early literacy programming and outreach to teens. Candidate must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong leadership skills; excellent strategic thinking capabilities, and an ability to implement new programs.
